For vetsAnimal Behaviour Veterinary Referral Service
Why choose me to refer to?
Choosing the right behaviour professional can feel overwhelming, especially as the industry isn’t yet regulated. To reassure you, I am an Associate Member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC). Associate Members have demonstrated that they have the appropriate level of Knowledge and understanding for the professional role of Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB). They are now gaining the practical experience necessary to be assessed as a CAB and therefore become a Full Member of the APBC. The APBC supports its Associate Members undertaking behaviour consultations.
As an Associate member of the APBC, gaining the practical experience necessary to be assessed as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB) and therefore become a Full Member of the APBC, I follow the APBC Code of Conduct and work on veterinary referral only.
This is important because medical issues — particularly pain — frequently drive or worsen behaviour problems. For example, Mills (2020) found a strong link between pain and behaviours such as noise sensitivity and aggression in Pain and Problem Behaviour in Cats and Dogs.
Refer a caseIf you are a vet and would like to refer a behaviour case to me, I would be grateful if you could fill out the linked form in as much detail as possible and I will then take care of the rest.
You will receive a report from me detailing what was discussed between me and the client, what the behaviour modification plan will be and any subsequent follow-ups thereafter.
Thank you for your referral to Talking Pet Behaviour.
