For vets

Animal Behaviour Veterinary Referral Service

Why choose me to refer to?

I appreciate it is hard to choose between different ‘behaviourists’ out there as there is no regulation as yet and as such unqualified and non-accredited people can call themselves a ‘behaviourist’. However let me reassure you that due to being a provisional member* of this association (APBC) gaining the practical experience necessary to be assessed as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB) and therefore become a Full Member of the APBC, I am always acting in the best interest of the animal and owner using scientifically based, welfare friendly practices appropriate for that particular case.

As part of being a *Provisional member of Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors, gaining the practical experience necessary to be assessed as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB) and therefore become a Full Member of the APBC, I am bound by their code of conduct to see all behaviour cases on Veterinary Referral Only.

This is because there is a well recognised link between behavioural problems and medical symptoms. Medical symptoms such as pain are well known to be associated with behavioural problems such as noise sensitivity and aggression as Daniel S Mills (2020) found in his study - Pain and Problem Behaviour in Cats and Dogs;

Refer a case

If you are a vet and would like to refer a behaviour case to me, I would be grateful if you could fill out the linked form in as much detail as possible and I will then take care of the rest.

You will receive a report from me detailing what was discussed between me and the client, what the behaviour modification plan will be and any subsequent follow-ups thereafter.

Thank you for your referral to Talking Pet Behaviour.
